Food, fruit and vegetables, etc are a great source of inspiration. I am a big fan of taking close-up photos of these items in unusual situations and lighting.
You might not recognize the subject matter immediately. The photos above include a classic white mushroom. When taking photographs of food, fruit and vegetables I think best results come from using a macro lens.
