Several wonderful trips over the years have allowed me to witness some most spectacular landscapes. These have been to Brittany in France, south-west Ireland, North Yorkshire, the great canyons and parks in the USA. I have included some of my favorite images from these trips below.
When capturing landscapes I recommend that you remember some simple rules:
- the rule of thirds – 3 lines spread equally across the width and height of the image
- keep some foreground, to give context
- frame the image with trees, bushes, archways etc.
Of course these rules are only there for you to break when needed. I find, for example, that landscapes by large still bodies of water work best when the image reflects in a line across the center of the frame.
Some of my photos are available for purchase on my Adobe Stock store or Pixels store.

If you are interested in other landscapes, please take a look at my canyons and parks photos from the USA, or my poppy fields. There is also a blog post to explain how you can do this.
There are some images of Normandy on this blog post.
Of course, there are spectacular landscapes around the world which make beautiful images. But sometimes simple, close to home sites give beautiful photographs. For example I have some photos from local parks in my blog posts. here are Poissy and Villennes-sur-Seine. And somewhere between local and foreign is Brittany. Here are some images from a short walk I did.
